Why Is There a U.S. Tariff Surcharge?
We feel it is important to explain why a tariff surcharge may appear on your order.
The additional cost of shipping our vintage camera parts into the United States is not limited to a single tariff. Many of our genuine factory parts were originally manufactured in Japan and are now being shipped from Canada, which can result in additional tariff-related costs. There can also be U.S. customs, carrier and administration fees that, particularly on small orders, may be considerably higher than the tariff itself.
For example, the additional costs associated with processing a $12 part can sometimes amount to $7 or $8.
There is also considerably more documentation required from us. Our staff may be asked to provide photographs, country of origin, model information, weight, dimensions and other product details. Even for a $15 part, completing these requirements can take 30 minutes or more.
This surcharge is not a profit centre for Old Camera Stuff. It helps offset these additional costs while allowing us to continue supplying rare, genuine factory camera parts to our U.S. customers.
As tariffs, fees and processing requirements change, we will adjust the surcharge accordingly—up or down.
